Hair loss
The hair is made of a protein called keratin. In addition, the hair contains essential vitamins and minerals.
Minerals: zinc, silicon, iron.
Vitamins: Vitamin A, B5, and vitamin B7 – also called biotin.
Under normal circumstances, the hair falls out at a rate of 50-100 hairs a day and usually it grows back. There are situations where the rate of hair loss increases, and hair that falls out does not grow back. Such increased hair loss can cause partial baldness to the point of complete baldness of the scalp.
Causes of hair loss:
· Poor nutrition - Poor nutrition can cause a deficiency in the minerals and vitamins needed for hair growth. When we lack vitamins and minerals in our body, we use various reservoirs, including the reservoir of vitamins and minerals that exist in the hair. As a result, the hair falls out and becomes fragile and thin.
Other causes of hair loss:
· Extreme diet
· Mental stress
· Lack of sleep
· Hormonal changes - a decrease in the female hormone estrogen, and an increase in the male hormone testosterone.
· Birth - after birth, hormonal changes occur that cause increased hair loss.
· Diseases - diseases such as diabetes, anemia, hypothyroidism, and other serious diseases that cause extreme distress to the body.
· Side effects of medications
· Transition seasons - during the transition seasons, hair loss increases.
· Heredity
· Improper hair care
• Hairstyles that stretch the hair tear it from the scalp and cause hair loss.
• Unprofessional hair straightening — e.g., too hot ironing or hair drying.
